Lyrics for One (Metallica)

I can't remember anything
Can't tell if this is true or dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
This terrible silence stops me
Now that the war is through with me
I'm waking up I can not see
That there is not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please God, wake me
Back in the womb its much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can't look forward to reveal
Look to the time when I'll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this life off from me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please god,wake me
Now the world is gone i'm just one
Oh god, help me
hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please god help me
Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
Landmine has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell

Artist Bio

Metallica's Career
Metallica's career started in Los Angeles 1981. The drummer Lars Ulrich from Gentofte Denmark posted an ad in the paper to start a band. The drummer Lars came across an ad for another band, the ad was posted by James Hetfield from Downey California the lead guitarist and singer of Metallica. Lars met up with James and together they posted an ad to get more members for the band. The bassist Ron McGovney Also from Downey California joined the band later. Metallica had to use substitute guitar players till they found an actual member. Later Dave Mustaine replying for an ad in the paper to join the band went in for a sound check and he was put in the band as a permanent member. Later after a few recordings a bassist Cliff Burton joined Metallica and became the new bassist. Metallica made one of the most successful heavy and soft metal bands. They showed the world how painful things can be in the world, especially the tragic death of Cliff. Cliff died in 1986 in a tour bus accident. The band had to substitute for the bassist but they wouldn't be the same.

Some of Metallica's famous songs are Master of Puppets (1986), Ride the Lightning (1984), And Justice for All (1988), Fade to Black (1984), Welcome Home (Sanitarium) (1988), and one of Metallica's most famous songs, One (1988). One was based off of World War I and was made when the war in Iran stopped. The song And Justice for All was made after Cliff Burton died. Metallica's songs were mostly about pain, death, sorrow, and loneliness. Metal wasn't always about pain for no reason many of their songs were about their problems or the world’s problems. Other bands influenced Metallica like Motor Head, Diamond Head, and Saxon. Metallica's music also changed over time by making the songs longer.

One unusual thing about Metallica is they said they played British heavy metal when they’re all Americans. Metallica is still a living band but some of the older members made their own band like Megadeath, Slayer, and Anthrax. Metallica's music was popular in the 1980’s and is still popular to this day.
